Who We Are
Read the rave reviews about our program!
Out of all the great things LCD has done for me, the thing I might be most thankful for is teaching me this lesson: filmmaking takes a LOT of hard work. You think you’re a perfect director and you’ve got everything prepared and everything’s going to be fine?
Well, wait until that cloud messes up the lighting in your shot.
Wait until a tech issue prevents you from filming a certain scene.
Wait until you’re filming outside in the hot summer sun. Wait until an actor complains about doing a shot multiple times.
Filmmaking is tough, and those things listed are just the tip of the iceberg. And yet, throughout the entire program, I can’t say there was a moment I didn’t want to be there. I was always learning, always being challenged, always enjoyed collaborating with others, always loved the energy and passion we shared. It also didn’t hurt to have some of the best teachers an aspiring filmmaker can wish for. In fact, calling them teachers doesn’t cut it. They were more like honest friends who just happened to help me learn. I never felt talked down to, but whenever I felt overwhelmed, they were there to back me up. The honest truth is that filmmaking is hard, arduous, and exhausting. But if you’re willing to put in the effort, it’s also creative, inspiring, magical, and just a lot of fun. And if anyone’s going to teach you filmmaking, it should be LCD. I’ll always remember the lessons they gave me.

I don’t know where to begin, we learned so much about acting, directing and editing in just a few weeks! I still remember how to use a camera correctly and how to set up different scenes. I’ll probably never be a director but one day I might need those skills that y’all taught me. Ms. Kema and Mr. Trey made LCD fun. It wasn’t like doing work at all. And since it was a summer program it kept a lot of us out of trouble. Maybe one day my child will be able to attend something like this because it’s worth it and it’s honestly not a waste of time.

LCD was super fun. I met new friends and found a potential cousin. The instructors were funny, and cool. Even though we did a lot of work it didn’t feel like work at all. I’m now thinking about signing up for drama class when school starts because I had so much fun acting. I’m eager for next summer so I can attend the program again.

Thank you LCD. I am still doing media today. LCD helped me figure out what I wanted to do in life. I am about to be a senior in high school and actually planning on going into the military for communications as an audio tech and editing thank you all so much.

Before attending this Program I was shy. I wasn’t going to know anybody and I didn’t know much about filming. Once I started to get more into the program I had fun directing, working the camera and acting with everyone. I met a long lasting friend and all of the kids were great and it was fun working with them. Can’t wait to work with a lot more new kids in the next program

When I first came to this program I didn’t know much about camera and I was shy. After attending this program I know more about how to work a camera and I’m not so shy. I would love to come back as much as I can and would totally tell everyone about it. I love LCD it’s my favorite place.

When I first came to LCD I felt excited and nervous because I had never done acting before and I did not know anyone. The first week I was excited to be doing the camera, acting, props, director and other stuff. The second week I was feeling good because I was ready to do different things and act again. My favorite class was acting because LCD helped not get all nervous and shy and now I’m not. I want to say thank you and I can’t wait to come again.

Since 2012 when I first went to LCD I have been using my skills that I have been taught for making my own family movies with my siblings. I have shared my knowledge with my peers at school when we do projects. LCD helped further develop my acting skills. I am proud and honored to have been apart of LCD 2012. It was an exciting experience with new adventures everyday. My favorite part of LCD was been around everyone because it felt like we were family. LCD made me discover what I wanted to be and what I will be. I’m planning on joining drama class next year. LCD is an amazing experience that everyone should have the opportunity to try.
